A bigger plan does not build credit any faster. Payment history is built by the number of payments reported on time, not by their size, so pick the amount you can pay every month without straining. The only thing that hurts you here is missing one.
Your score is low, so no lender approves you, so nothing gets reported on time, so your score stays low. Angel4 is an account you pay into instead of borrowing from, which breaks that loop.
You pay once. A fixed amount leaves your account on the same day each month. Most of it is yours and goes straight into savings. The rest is our fee, and it is the only money we ever keep.
We report it. It lands on your file as a real installment account, the same kind of entry a car loan or a line of credit creates. If you miss one, that gets reported too. An account that can only say good things is not a credit record.
At month twelve it closes and you get paid. The savings come back to you in full. Nothing renews, there is no loan to sign, and we do not contact you with an offer. Twelve payments is the whole product.
We are not a lender and we never advance you money to spend. The savings are held in trust in your own name, separate from the money the business runs on.
0%
of your score is payment history
Payment history is the largest single factor in how a credit score is calculated, and it is the only one Angel4 touches. We do not report a credit limit, so we make no difference to your utilization.
These weightings are published by the bureaus and are not our figures. Where your own score ends up depends on everything else on your file, and we cannot tell you what it will be.
This is a real obligation. A missed payment is reported as missed, and a late payment can lower your score. That is not a penalty we add. It is the same thing that makes an on-time payment worth something in the first place.
A 2020 study by the United States Consumer Financial Protection Bureau followed 1,531 people using credit builder loans. People without existing debt were 24 percent more likely to end up with a credit score at all. People who already carried debt saw their scores dip slightly, about three points on average. If you are already behind on payments elsewhere, another monthly obligation may not help you. Read the study.
Angel4 is not a credit repair tool and does not guarantee an improvement in your credit score. Credit scores are produced by complex models using many factors, including your other accounts and your payment history elsewhere. Individual results vary.
Not a call centre. If something goes wrong with your account, this is who you are dealing with.
Founder
Became a finance manager at a used car dealership at nineteen. Roughly eight out of ten people who sat across from him could not be approved, and not one of them had ever been shown a way to build credit on purpose. He spent two years learning how the reporting system works and built the software that reports to Equifax.
It is a fair question and you should be asking it. The Financial Consumer Agency of Canada warns about companies selling savings loans to people with poor credit where the customer never receives any money. Here is how to check us instead of taking our word for it. Our legal entity is 2715537 Alberta Inc., which you can look up on the Alberta corporate registry. The savings go into an account held in your name, not ours. The full price is on this page before you give us anything. And there is no loan at the end for us to sell you.
The fee pays for the reporting. Being an approved data furnisher to Equifax Canada, producing a compliant file every month, investigating disputes inside the legal window and keeping the records that back all of it up is the actual work and the actual cost. The savings are your money and we take nothing out of them.
It goes into a savings account held in trust in your name, separate from the money the business runs on. We have not opened that account yet because we have not launched. When we do, the institution holding it will be named on this page along with exactly what protection applies and what does not. If a company in this category will not tell you where your money sits, that tells you something.
Tell us before the payment date and we will work out what to do. What we will not do is pretend the month did not happen. If a payment is missed, it is reported as missed. You can also cancel, and cancelling is free.
You can cancel any time and there is no cancellation fee. The savings you have put in are yours and come back to you. Service fees already paid cover months we have already reported and are not refunded. The account closes on your credit file, and the payments you made up to that point stay on your record.
Equifax Canada only. We do not report to TransUnion. Some lenders check one, some check the other, and some check both, so it is worth knowing before you decide.
We will not give you a number, and you should be suspicious of anyone in this category who does. We have no customers yet, so we have no results, and under Canadian advertising law a performance claim has to be backed by proper testing done before the claim is made. What we can tell you is the mechanism: payments reported on time to a credit bureau are the single largest factor in most scoring models.
Tell us and we investigate. We keep a frozen copy of every monthly file we send, so we can always answer the question of what exactly we reported about you in a given month. You can also dispute directly with Equifax Canada, and we are required to investigate and correct anything inaccurate.
We do not have a date. We are working through Equifax's onboarding and a legal review, and we would rather be late than open something that is not properly set up. Leave your email below and we will tell you when it is real.
